چکیده

BPMN (Business Process Model and Notation) is an OMG standard for business process modeling that is widely adopted today. The OMG lists 62 tool vendors who offer products that support BPMN [3]. This success is based on the fact that BPMN provides a standardized graphical notation which is easy to use for business analysts, allowing them to document and communicate their business processes within their company and with their external business partners. BPMN was introduced in 2002, standardized by the OMG in version 1.0 in 2006 [1] and version 2.0 [2] is currently being finalized by the OMG. Version 2.0 takes BPMN to a new level. It adds the following to the previous version:

Why a Diagram is Only Sometimes Worth a Thousand Words: An Analysis of the BPMN 2.0 Visual Notation

The Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) has recently emerged as an international standard for modelling business processes. This is one of the most important developments in the history of the IS field, which has the potential to unify the business process management (BPM) field in the same way UML has unified software engineering. Like most business process modelling notations, BPMN is ...

Extending BPMN 2.0 to Enable Links between Process Models and ARIS Views Modeled with Linked Data

Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) is an emerging standard for modeling business processes. In its 2.0 version it defined formal semantics to its elements which allows a process execution engine to understand how processes should be integrated and executed. However, BPMN2.0 elements use shallow String datatypes for their identification (e.g., process participants, process resources) whic...

BPMN Miner 2.0: Discovering Hierarchical and Block-Structured BPMN Process Models

We present BPMN Miner 2.0: a tool that extracts hierarchical and block-structured BPMN process models from event logs. Given an event log in XES format, the tool partitions it into sub-logs (one per subprocess) and discovers a BPMN process model from each sub-log using existing techniques for discovering BPMN process models via heuristics nets or Petri nets. A drawback of these techniques is th...

BPMN 2.0 Execution Semantics Formalized as Graph Rewrite Rules

This paper presents a formalization of a subset of the BPMN 2.0 execution semantics in terms of graph rewrite rules. The formalization is supported by graph rewrite tools and implemented in one of these tools, called GrGen. The benefit of formalizing the execution semantics by means of graph rewrite rules is that there is a strong relation between the execution semantics rules that are informal...

BPEL vs. BPMN 2.0: Should You Care?

BPMN 2.0 is an executable process modeling language. Thus, its relation to BPEL becomes an issue. In this paper, we propose a positioning of both languages, introduce the notion of a “native metamodel”, and emphasize the role of the native metamodel of a process engine for the actual discussion.
